here is my first final image in a banner format. i just split the 1st final picture into 3 parts

with this design i changed the type by deleting the amount of question marks and exclamation marks and the full stops as i felt that is was a little too much. though the design still looks like it needs to be changed. having the type be composited across the page better instead of having the type just spread across the page.  

i am going to add typography to my final images to add more narrative to the final images. i think that this will work well.

i think that this works well to add narritive to the design. i also like how the type looks like it has been scratched out. i did this to show a sense of struggle and torture the child is feeling in this situation.
i will add more type to the design.......just words that add to the narrative to the design such as (hate, why etc.) i think this will communicate the designs well

this is the final with the text added to the design. i chose to use the helvetica font. i think that the compopsition could be worked on to make the work flow better on the page

this is the third design i will have to support my final editorial piece. what i did with this design idea is that i followed the same formula as the other designs but experimented with the composition to add more effect to the design. i put the single images in a ring motion to give the design a different dynamic to it, i also (like the others) played around with the opacity to add depth to the final outcome.

this is my 2nd final image. i basically took the same concept as the 1st final image and used it in this design. the narrative for this design i focused on the neglection side of domestic/child abuse, having the parents taking drugs and exposing the child to that lifestyle. leading on to the child taking the drugs also.

this is the finished more refined design in photoshop layering the images a lot more, around a smoke atmosphere to give the narrative a lot more depth to the design giving off the dark/spooky feel i have been exploring througout my final designs.

with this design i like the use of collage and i will consider using this style for a backdrop to aid my final designs

in this design i like the way the bikes are stood up next to each other. this is good because you wouldnt see this on a normal day. it gives the audience intrigue and this is what i aim to do with my final designs.

 in development of my final outcomes i have been looking at alternate ways of showing my final design.

in this alternate i took a look at how the last design was positioned and having a random scatty positioning for the final designs. but in this design i chose to have a more organised positioning of shape and composition. in this design i like how the shape is crowding the design to give the impression of the child being caged inside of her parents abuse. i think that this has a good narrative to it and has a good feel to it.

MY Development of images for final outcomes

initially i went for a more vectored style for my final image using a shadow to communicate the darkness of the father character and the fear of the child character. with finishing this design i have found that the design doesnt work well for my final as it isnt strong enough for a final design. so with reviewing my design and looking at a few artists: magritte, brouqe and other designs i have made new designs looking at shape and shadows, also looking at smoke for the creepy, dark effect.

 this is a thumbnail for my final designs ideas 1st picture. i have been thinking about making the images in a suit fashion using shapes and different shades of colour having the actual image of abuse showing the story. i aim to have alot of narrative in my final pictures (all 5 of them) communicating the different forms of abuse inside of a family. (there is also a Female version of this thumbnail)

for this i chose to use shapes. the reason i chose this is because i think that it suits the concept of a dis-functional family which is why they are broken up with different shapes. i think this adds a good dynamic to the design of the ring girl image (view blog to see ring girl vector drawing) i think that the miniture drawings in the rest of the designs have been good to communicate the story. which prompted the idea of having an infographic/editorial design as my final piece for FMP. (more research will support this)

this is the same image (look above) put into photoshop. i like the different opacities of the images to give the whole design more depth i think that this is a good addition to the final design.  and i will add this technique to all of my designs.

this is the image that inspired me to add shape to my design.

 this is an image by magritte which has a sense of surrealism which is what i will be looking at with my final images to go inside my large image. i like how it relates to my final design with the way the cloth represents the hair and the cage represents the torso. maybe showing that this character feels that he is trapped, which is good narrative. i aim to have good narrative in my final design.

with the use of humans i aim to have real images/shapes with the surrealist element in it. i think that it will show the childs mindstate alot better in the final design. the aim is to have narritive with all of the designs in the final.

in this design i like the use of shape it give the design a texture. with this i think that i will look at adding texture to my designs.

with this design by man ray i have been looking at the ambiance i and how the design makes me feel when i look at it. i think that this is a very dark emotional design having a naked woman in the dark shows this.

1st Drawing For Abuse (A5) these are the images that will be underneath the main characters hair. which will be removed to reveal her take on abuse

in this image i have been looking at how abuse has haunted the child visually. seeing the father being abusive to the mother in the design i have the father raising his hand as if he is going to beat the mother. this is good as it communicates the design well and the audience already knows what will happen next (the mother being hit of course)

in this design i took pictures at my uncles BBQ/Bonfire to get this smoke effect. i added the image (above) to the design and layered it and removed elements of the smokey background/foreground to give the foggy/smokey effect. i made the image a lot thicker by duplicating the layers of the smoke with elements removed.

i just duplicated the layers a few more times to get rid of the bottom line.

MY FINAL MAC'D UP DESIGN

for my final design i am looking at 'samara' a character from the ring. i have chosen this character because of the story she has in the movie. her story inspired my final piece.

 this is the mac'd up design of my final. with this i will have a blown up lifesize model with the movable hair that will be able to reveal the history of the abuse in A5 pictures.

interactive street art

in this image i am looking at how the artist took a real life inanimate object and made it interact with the illustration. which is what i aim to achieve in my final design. except i will be having the audience interact with the design rather than having the illustration 'only' interact with the real object.

 again this design is representing looking at how the illustration communicates with real life which is what i aim to achieve.

Nathan Jurevicius

in this design i like how it looks like what would be created in a childs mind, which is the effect i am looking at in my final designs the use of colour and how it has been illustrated is what i will be looking at in my final design.

this is a good example of the idea i have. as the thought bubble is representing what is in the characters head. i am trying to communicate abuse through the childs mind.

Petra Štefanková

in my final design i will be looking at a lot of different styles of vector art. i have been very interested in the work of Petra Štefanková because of her intentional child-like approach to the design. this is important to my final outcomes because i will be looking at abuse from a child perspective. so some child-like designs will help for my final designs.

i like the use of shape in this design and the colour is also very good. it gives off the illustration aspect of the design.

The shadow art of Kumi Yamashita is simply spectacular! In the example above, the artist uses a piece of aluminum attached to a wall, light hits the object to form a shadow of two people. What? Floris Neususs - shadow catchers: looking at this design i have been looking at the positioning and how i cud include this in my final designs. 

in this image i have been looking at the amount of detail and the foggy effect it has, which is what i will be using in my final designs using smoke.

i was watching the ring the other day and found this very interesting to go with child abuse, having a tortured child as a basis for the design.

i basically took the design and made a vector drawing of the same thing. i have the idea of having the long hair covering the face and using material for the audience to pull across to unveil the other designs representing the thoughts of the tormented child. i have an idea to make this mainly out of type so it differs from the original. you may see this in a later post

DESIGN IDEAS

the idea for my new FMP will be interactive street art. communicating child abuse. i will be having 3 large vector illustrations adding materials that can be moved by the audience to reveal more of the design aspects for the final show.

New (FINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!) Proposal

after evaluating my final designs i have chosen to change my FMP idea for the third and final time. the idea is to communicate child abuse by parents. i have chosen to use (interactive) street art with vector drawings. using digital and manual techniques. the manual element will be interactive, as the audience will move the manual elements to undercover a more designs to communicate the theme of abuse. i will be looking at vector drawings, character designs and shadows, i will need the use of a smoke machine to make the shadow effect (just an idea at this point).

the title sequence

i have been looking at how the movies start and they all have who the movie was produced by. so i may be looking at the disney pixar logo animation and how it shows the design. and i will try to add it to the start of my animation having my own logo to start off my design.

in this design that i have made i have looked at the pixar animation studio design and i have done my own version of it. it does look to cute for the actual topic i am using for the design, but this is just to show the brand. like pixar does before the start of the disney movies. i like how it has the 2D-3D look. and using the character i will be using in the actual animation.

the graphic style (ambiance)

this is the  kind of look i want the animation to have a very dark gloomy look to it because it is a very dark subject that i am trying to look at. looking at the seven title sequence i have found then animation style, using  pan-tracking.

New Proposal

after thinking about my FMP in more depth i will be changing my idea to another concept. the concept is to show the effects of bad parenting e.g. looking at abuse and neglection. i will be doing an animation for this idea showing these themes. this design will be apart of a campaign for an adoption agency, which will include an advertisment campaign and and editorial. i think that this is stronger than my first FMP idea because it has more direction and allows me to look at more different ways to present it.

in my final Major Project i will be looking at tastes/traits and characteristics from parents their children. the fields i  will be looking at are:

• 'Different Taste in music' and how they can can be passed down from parents and children, 
• ' Different Taste in Film' and how they can can be passed down from parents and children 
• the overall characteristics of parents and how they have passed down to the children. 

The Point of my Brief is to show the relationship between parents and children through 'Music', 'film' and 'Characteristics'. 

Throughout the project i will be doing a wide range of research, looking at the artists my parents listened to and who i listen to as well (because taste can go both ways) i will also be looking at the different genres of films that my parents like and what i like. for the characteristics part i will be looking at my myself and siblings looking at different characteristics we all picked up from our parents, looking at attributes such as: sayings/phrases, quirks, habits etc.

the experimentation will consist of an advertising campaign for all three fields (listed above). i will be writing a small article to go with my advertising campaigns. i will also be experimenting with other media/mixed media representations such as posters, concrete poems, leaflets, info graphics, and a Heraldry Design to add to my final piece. the article will be related to all of the fields (listed above) and will explain each of the different representations (posters, concrete poems etc.)  

The overall aim to my final major project is to show the relationship between parents and children through having the same related tastes and traits
